In the main event, UFC legend Don “The Predator” Frye will rematch Ruben “Warpath” Villareal the former Gladiator Challenge “Heavy Weight Champion” who has fought several other UFC fighters such as Dan Severn, Travis Wiuff, Andre Roberts, Mike Whitehead, Paul Buentello, Ricco Rodriguez, Bobby Hoffman, Dan “The Bull” Bobish, Bas Rutten and Dan Evensen.

For those of you who don’t know, Frye and Villareal squared off and fought back on May 13th 2006. It was Don Frye’s first fight back in USA – in nearly 10 yrs. Prior to their fight, Don had spent the better part of 10 years competing in over sea’s in Japan for both PRIDE FC and K-1 promoti ons. His last bout in America was at UFC: Ultimate Ultimate 1996, where he defeated Gary Goodridge, Mark Hall and Tank Abbott in one night. Their first bout was live on pay-per-view, and was called a “Draw”. Both men fought to the last bell as the judges called it 88-89 for Fry, 89-88 for Ruben, and 88-88 a draw.

Also being added to this fight card are 2 local hometown heroes and long time GC Vet’s. A.J Fonseca & Jaime Hants. Mr. Fonseca is currently 5-4 and is dropping to what he feels is his natural weight at 135lbs. Watch out fans…. A.J was extremely tough to handle at 145lbs, now at 135lbs, he will be in the mix for a title shot right with in a fight or two! Jaime Hants ( 4 wins 2 losses ) was just one fight away from a receiving a title shot back in 2006 with Gladiator Challenge. “We are very excited to have booth Mr. Hants & Mr. Fonseca back in the ranks of the Gladiator Challenge fold. In the Main event Don “The Predator” Frye will be taking on the always tough “Mad” Mike Gonzalez for the Light Heavyweight Title. Jeff Morris will be battling it out with Justin Baseman for the Welterweight World Title, and Rob “The Caveman” Jackson will take on Josh Appelt for the GC Heavyweight belt in a bout that is sure to end in a knockout. This card will also feature a Super Fight bout between Chris Wood and Cal Worsham, folks you won’t want to miss this!

Rob “Caveman” Jackson (5-1) recently defended the Gladiator Challenge Heavyweight belt with a victory over the very tough Deutsch Pu’u. This battle ended with “The Caveman” scoring a TKO in round number one. Jackson has won five of his six fights, all of them taking place in GC. Now, after shocking the California fight scene and defending the GC heavyweight belt, he’ll look to defend his strap once again.

Also on the card MMA legend and pioneer Don “The Predator” Frye. The winner of the tournament at UFC 8 in 1996, Frye has carved out his place in the annals of the history of MMA.An NCAA Division I wrestler in college, Frye was trained by fellow fight legend Dan “The Beast” Severn. En route to winning UFC 8, Frye set the record (since broken) for fastest knockout in UFC history at eight seconds. One of the first fighters to be “cross-trained,” in that he was proficient in more than one discipline, “The Predator” holds a black belt in judo, and has pro boxing and kickboxing experience. He holds a 20-8-1-1 record in MMA, and has faced notable fighters such as Gary Goodridge, Mark Coleman, Tank Abbott, Gilbert Yvel, Ken Shamrock, Hidehiko Yoshida, Ruben Villareal, and Dave Herman.

This past Friday, April 22nd, Soboba Casino played host to Gladiator Challenge‘s “Hostile” event. In the main event, former King of the Cage Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Champion Tony “Kryptonite” Lopez stepped into the GC cage to face current GC Heavyweight Champion Ruben “Warpath” Villareal, but with the vacant GC Super Fight Championship at stake.

In the end, it was “Kryptonite” who was too much for “Warpath,” as he secured the victory and the belt with a two-round beatdown. Congrats to the new champ.

Tedd Williams’ Gladiator Challenge is proud to present another star-studded event, “Warpath,” which will take place on Saturday, May 21st at Shingle Springs Rancheria. Three world titles will be on the line at “Warpath,” as the heavyweight, middleweight, and welterweight titles will be defended.

One of the most experienced GC competitors ever, Fanshier holds a 13-5 record with the promotion. He has faced notable fighters such as Chris Leben, James Lee, Thomas “Wildman” Denny, Shannon Ritch, Joey Villasenor, Jeremiah Metcalf, Ronald Jhun, and Mike “The Joker” Guymon.

In a battle for the interim GC Welterweight Championship, Jaime “El Cucui” Jara (30-9-0-1) will face undefeated young upstart Justin Baesman (5-0). Jara has won nine of his last eleven fights, including an exciting rear-naked choke submission victory over Larry Mays at “High Octane” in March. GC ANNOUNCES HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT AT “WARPATH” is a post from: CAGERADIO

According to Dominique “The Fallen Angel” Robinson, Salcido had been living in Mexico and was heading to work in the U.S. when he and his friend, Kevin, got into an argument with the suspect.

At the border cars were bumper to bumper, the suspect pulled off the road and walked down the aisle of cars approached the vehicle Salcido was in and opened fire.

“I’m sad but I’m just angry about things. I knew this guy for years,” said Robinson. “I talked to him all the time.”

Salcido fought for Gladiator Challenge and on the first Tachi Palace Fights card. He amassed a record of 4-5 fighting local fighters like Darrin Crisp, Poppies Martinez, and Russ Miura.

Robert “Bullet” Breslin and Robinson both trained with Salcido. They considered him as more of a family member then just friend and training partner.

“I trained with him and coached him a little bit. He was like a little brother to me,” said Breslin.

According to Breslin, Salcido was about to be a father.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Sergio’s and Kevin’s family during this difficult time.

This has been proven once again, as Strikeforce has contracted several GC veterans to compete on its upcoming “Diaz vs. Daley” event, which will take place at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, with the main card airing live on Showtime.

GC vet Mike “MAK” Kyle (18-8-1-1) will face off with former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion and current DREAM Light Heavyweight Champion Gegard Mousasi with a shot at the Strikeforce 205-pound belt on the line. On the undercard, GC Featherweight Champion Robbie Peralta (13-3), who is riding a six-fight win streak in GC, will meet the biggest name of his career in DREAM Featherweight Champion Hiroyuki Takaya (15-8-1). This non-title affair will be Peralta’s biggest test to date. In addition, two GC vets in Rolando Perez (5-4-1) and undefeated Edgar “Kitty Katt ” Cardenas (3-0) will tangle. And one-time GC fighter Saad Awad (8-3) will face off with Joe Duarte (5-2).
