In the main event, X-1 Middleweight Champion Falaniko Vitale will put his belt on the line against the X-1 Welterweight Champion, Dylan Clay. The co-main event will see Harris “The Hitman” Sarmiento defend his X-1 lightweight strap against striking specialist Max Holloway. In addition, Ricky Wallace and Eben Kaneshiro will tangle for Wallace’s X-1 featherweight title, and Russell Doane’s X-1 bantamweight championship will be up for grabs when he faces Van Oscar Penovaroff. The fight card is rounded out with six state title fights, and one amateur championship tilt.

This electrifying event will take place Saturday, March 12th at Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu. Doors for the event will open at 6 PM, and fights will start at 7 PM. Tickets for this incredible event are on sale through the Blaisdell Box Office, as well as all Wal-Mart stores, as well Tickemaster.com, or by calling (800) 745-3000. In addition, “Champions III” will be available worldwide via pay per view on X1Events.com. The price to purchase the card via PPV is $9.95.

Falaniko Vitale (28-9, eight TKO/KO’s, sixteen submissions) is one of the most respected Hawaiian combatants fighting today. An experienced athlete who recently celebrated ten years as a professional fighter, Vitale proudly represents the 808 Fight Factory, one of the toughest fight gyms on the Islands, and has fought for some of the most well-known promotions in the world. Fans of King of the Cage, Rage in the Cage, SuperBrawl, Icon Sport, the IFL, Strikeforce, and the UFC have all seen his skill set exhibited. In his most recent bout, he defended his coveted X-1 strap against former EliteXC slugger Kala “Kolohe” Hose, finishing his ultra-tough opponent via submission in the 4th round this past September. Niko, as he is known, has taken on top names in the sport, including “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler, former Strikeforce middleweight title challenger Jason “Mayhem” Miller, MMA pioneer Jeremy Horn, Strikeforce/UFC veteran Trevor Prangley, and former UFC fighter Frank Trigg. He has beaten notable fighters such as UFC vet Aaron Riley, former UFC Middleweight Champion Dave Menne, UFC middleweight contender Yushin Okami, and Matt “The Law” Lindland.

Dylan Clay (8-2, two TKO/KO’s, six submissions) is a highly-respected submission fighter who possesses six tapout victories on his record. A rather unique individual, Clay is a bit of an MMA nomad. He has trained all over the world, from Thailand, to the mainland, to the Islands. He defeated UFC veteran Ronald “The Machine Gun” Juhn via TKO (corner stoppage) in his first X-1 appearance, which took place in May of 2008. Clay has also competed in M-1, where he faced Brazilian fighter Eduardo Pamplona. He always puts on a show for the fans, and always leaves them satisfied. In Clay’s last bout, he blasted Island boy Brandon Wolff, coaxing a 3rd round tapout from the then-champion. Clay showed a well-rounded game, hurting Brandon on the feet before finishing on the mat. This highly-anticipated scrap will determine middleweight supremacy in X-1.

“What an incredible fight card ‘Champions III’ is shaping up to be,” exclaimed Mike Miller, Owner/Promoter of X-1 World Events. “With fighters like Niko Vitale, Dylan Clay, Harris Sarmiento, and everyone else, the fans are sure to get their money’s worth!”

It was May 9th in Stockton California, and Mixed Martial Arts history had just been made. By defeating Steve Heath via Technical Knockout in the third, Jamie Jara won the PureCombat Middleweight title making him a five time champion. Jaime Jara also became the first fighter to win a championship in four separate weight divisions. Jamie Jara is a 41 year old fighter who has experienced a long and successful career. He has battled such MMA notables as former UFC light heavyweight champion “Sugar” Rashad Evans, Strikeforce contender Scott Smith Steve Heath and former WEC Light Heavyweight Champion Doug “The Rhino” Marshall. With a total of 33 fights, Mr. Jara has 25 wins, 7 losses and 1 No Contest.

In 1969 Jaime Jara was born in North Highlands, California. His father was the wrestling coach at Rio Linda high where Jamie attended. In his senior year, Mr. Jara fought his way to a 56-1 record, placing 2nd in the California High school state wrestling championships. After high school, Jaime furthered his combat education by taking martial arts and earning a black belt. He has been a professional MMA fighter since 2002, and is still actively competing. “El Cucui” meaning “The Boogeyman” was the nickname his father gave him. Mr. Jara tends to “scare a lot of people” he told one interviewer, and the nickname just seems to fit.

Jara’s fighting style is not easily comparable to most other renowned fighters. “I think I’ve got my own style. I’m a little more unorthodox than most” said Mr. Jara in an interview with Kodiak MMA. His stand up is very clean and effective, with knock-out power in both hands, and a good boxing style defense. He is always active on the ground, always posing a threat and looking to finish. Never out of condition for a fight, and with an experienced and focused attitude, Jaime Jara continues fighting with determination rivaled only by the Terminator.

Mr. Jara has fought his way into cage fighting history. The man who defeated four champions in four weight classes, and currently holds the PureCombat Middleweight title, is being inducted into a hall of fame. On March 12, 2010 at 6:00 pm in the Sacramento Radisson Hotel, Coaching Kids MMA and CK promotions Presents Amateur Full Contact Mixed Martial Arts. At this event Jaime Jara will become the first inductee into the MMA-KO’s Hall of Fame, and his place in combat sport history will become solidified.

When asked whom he wanted to thank, Mr. Jara asked that his fans be acknowledged, his fight team and Mike Rumsey, Coaching Kids MMA, and of course his many sponsors such as Stealth Armor, Warrior Wear, and Cassio Werneck Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Jaime Jara recently signed a 6 fight contract, and is about to make his next assault on the King Of The Cage Middleweight division, On March 26, 2010 he will be fighting at the “Silver Legacy” in Reno ,Nevada and will be starting his next path of destruction. Mr. Jara has, and continues to lead, an inspiring career especially to young up-and-coming fighters. “Just train hard, and stay on the grind” was Jara’s advice to such individuals; advise consistent with what we have seen in Jara’s fights and habits. He is mentally unbreakable, with an unmatched will and a strong jaw; a master of the grind. This disciplined fighter is about to be bad news for anyone in the KOTC Middleweight division.

Dominique Robinson (4-3) went to war with Ultimate Fighter alum, Gabe Rudiger (14-3-1).

Robinson looked great showing great takedown defense catching Rudiger’s leg every time he threw a kick.

American Kickboxing Academy fighter, Phil “the pain” Collins (7-5) pulled an armbar submission out of his bag of tricks to finish Mike Arellano (5-2) at 3:10 in the first round.

Phil Perez (7-5) went toe-to-toe with Anthony Figueroa (4-4) but a cut on Perez’s head from an accidental headbutt. It would end in a draw at 1:30 in the first round.
