“Fall From Grace Vol 1.” by “Fallen Angel” Dominique Robinson

2720009031_3ed3615438*Yawn* Still tired. I just woke up a little while ago, yes that’s right JUST woke up, but if you had a two and a half year old with Twilight like abilities to stay up all night you would to…add on top of that I’m a chocolate skinned S.O.B and walla! there you have it. Before I really get started on this thing I have to get give a warning that everyone probably already knows by now, I speak my mind..if your offended, that means it probably applied to you. Over the last two days I’ve been getting a lot of feedback on the “3-headed beast” as my boy Mots called it (the current interview with myself, “The Sensation” Issac De Jesus, and “The Wild Child” John Reedy) oh and by the way congrats on your win Reedy. Anyways, a lot of people have been telling me how they appreciate me always talking about the “other” side of this game regardless of the risk of being blackballed, and how now other fighters are following suit and aren’t afraid to say who f**ked them over, how they were f**ked over, and who they want to fight instead of the “whoever the promoter sets up for me I’m ready” typical answer or the “I love this game and I’m treated very well” lie that 95% of these fighters tell, and with that said we now have THREE fighters willing to tell it like it is…wait a minute let me turn that number to four and a half. I’ll have to be honest, and in this case I hate that I actually have to be because that’s just me, but one of my biggest inspirations, though we aren’t the best of friends in real life, is Nick Diaz…he turn this number to four. I think back to when I used to train at AKA and get there at 12pm and stay till 10-10:30pm every Monday through Friday and act as a beat up dummy for Fitch, Josh Thomson, Rich Crunkilton, Mike Kyle, Paul Buentello (yes I used to spar with the heavyweights and grapple them) and everyone, while the only people who ever offered to give me person help John Fitch, and that’s why I’m so happy to see him where he is at today, though Andy and Jerome would take a little extra time to help me during their classes, but at the same time they would have to tend to class. I think back to when I had my AKA fight team tryouts and had to spar one three minute round with every fighter on the team, ending in Josh Thomson (who hated me at the time) and a last five minute round with Robert “Crazy Bob” Cook, and him hitting me with a body shot while I was exhausted, that almost had me s**t my pants. I think back to, shortly after making the team, Bob Cook telling me that I should never fight because he didn’t think I had “any finishing ability” and this is after having countless wars with ALL the fighters on the team..then I fast forward to Frank Shamrock having a fall out with AKA and leaving the team, then Frank Shamrock having a fall out with Dave Velasquez and his own gym splitting up, then Frank Shamrock and myself having a falling out because the fighter had overtaken the man in everyday life, then going over to Cesar Gracie’s team (who was Frank Shamrock the fighter in real life thing all over again) and finally meeting Phil Torres who is an essential part of my ground game to this day and keeps me around and takes s**t for doing so since Cesar and at least one of the Diaz boys hates me for being, well, me. I think back to all my hole in the f**king wall fights in Mexico and other places to build experience and my two “loses” to Reedy and Silva, and being hugged to death and tripped all day by Prater. I think back to late notice fights I’ve taken for promoters, only for them to never return the favor and bring me back on their shows. I think back to how I’ve had 18 fights now and 6 managers in my almost 4yr “career” and how only 1 of those fights was obtained my a manager, which leads me to think of how much time has been wasted doing nothing in these 4yrs. I think back to how I’ve known Bob Cook since 2003, and after building experience I’ve asked him “Hey can you send me to a smaller show in Japan and get me in Strikeforce” (Japan being my ultimate dream and Bob being able to do both with AKA name behind him) and him simply replying “I gotta see what you have now…do you even still fight?” which was odd to me since all the other AKA guys have told me I’ve been doing a good job ON MY OWN, and how since I left there I always have sent Bob emails keeping him up to date on everything I’ve done…then I have to watch as new guys from AKA are put into strikeforce because they wrestled in college with Fitch, or were NCAA wrestlers in their home state, or simply because they are from AKA. I think back to how I hit up countless fighters on Myspace asking them if they knew any good managers and how 95% of them don’t even write back, and how I’ve sat and watched UFC fights and read MMA articles online waiting to catch a glimpse of, or read what sponsors are sponsoring that fighter so I could write them and see if I could get sponsored as well….only for them to never write back and I STILL don’t have a money sponsor till this day…and that makes me think how odd the world is because the sponsors I do have, if they had the Tapout kinda money that they would sponsor me that way…but hey the good folks never have it right? and speaking of Tapout I think back to the 4 convos I had with Mask (R.I.P) and him telling me to call him and email him because he wanted to sponsor me, and my calls and emails never being returned. I think back of watching fighters from Vegas get paid more than me and others because they are from Vegas, and I think how training with a big name somehow makes each fighter training with them “big” which I really don’t get, and how Sherdog told me to send him videos of some of my other fights and he would put them on his site, which never came to fruition, and how I lost half of them between bringing them from my website designers house and my house over and over for that guy. I think how Casey Olsen doesn’t have an opponent for this upcoming Strikeforce but I’m bored of that whole situation, and I think how all these guys on the street saying “I wanna be a fighter” are f**king nuts! don’t do it if you have any sense….I just happen to not have any, as I sit here, write this, and look down at my nifty new instructional my friend/acting manager Jen got me, along with the million other instructional she got me to act as my “trainers”. Finally I think back to Nick Diaz and how he always did things his way, said things his way, got black balled and ripped off in fights he should have won for being him, and how, despite all this, he made it…..yup he made it, thus, giving me hope that I can make it being myself to :)

this makes me think of those cool sponsors that do help me and act more like friends then sponsors, and some of the good people I’ve met through MMA, and some of the good things I’ve gotten to do and good things I’ve gotten to see through MMA….and I’m sure there is more to come. This was just a continuation of the “3-headed beast” and I’m letting everyone know that MMA has it’s lows and they are LLLLOOOOWWWWWWWW, but if you meet some good people along the way, and stick to who YOU are, that if you make it…not being a “tv you” but being YOU, it’ll all be worth it in the end…guess I’ll stick it out…till next time

-Thanx to my man Mots, your getting bigger and if I ever blow I’mma still be on this thang with ya. Thanx to my manager Jen at Rambonga management, my website designer Reena, my #1 headache and weight gaining assistant Tri lol, Norma for taking care of my #1 love in life Gesias, unbreakable mouthpieces and Hector, Ink Junkeez and Sketch, madbeatings and Mar, Kyoujin and Mark (where my tees), Dynamic Chiropractic and Tim, DNA extreme, Go Juvo, my boy Genghis Con, Modesto Graphics and Jaime, and my man Eddie at competitive edge (good man here good man).  Jake Shields, Urijah Faber, Jasper Tabaya, Phil Torres thanx for letting me go in and get my a** kicked…and my GoonSquad members (Gesias new youngest member LOL)

The Real "Fallen Angel" the rest are just fallen to the wayside… Dominique Robinson is a true Athlete. Training is his living, Living is his training… His time is yet to come, Gotta respect him for his Perseverance and the path he's on… Dominique speaks for the all of us… He believes he speaks from the heart… If your not buying it, then your thinkin from the heart, just not sayin it…
you can't hit a home run every time so why you keeping score when you never grab the bat… angel has a good heart, let him share it with you, put him on the card, the next card, and the next card, add some flava to the recipe… i feel like a fallen angel sometimes. he just wears the name… trains cause he has to, not cause he feels like it… when others sit defeated at the first sign of discomfort. Im guilty of that scenario. On any other day that i call him, he'll get back to me cause he training or he's just about to train. So let him be a fighter. things will settle in to place, and everyone will have no regrets

  3. Other variant is possible also
